working with logo design

logo

Working with logo is one of the biggest challenges for any designer. It’s like a seed which contains a big tree inside it. So many things relate it. Different designer keeps different strategy in designing logo. I always try to emphasize the typography. I always prefer a newly created font… but it doesn’t happen all the time. I have weakness in few specific fonts. In using color I am too conservative… its not good I know, but it’s my way of work.

Click here to view some of my logo works which I’ve done in last 2 years. Mostly were done as mockup.

working with print disign

Print designs are more complicated than any other media. You have to maintain too many things at a time to get a better output. But I feel comfort working with this media. You have to be so sure about your design… the colors should be clean, contents should be aligned perfectly.

print design

This job was given by care Bangladesh. It’s a training manual containing 106 pages, describing 10 different issues, published in 2 languages. I just tried to keep a simple look, light pastel colors, least design elements… just playing with the given contents. I am happy with the final printed production.

Here is a pdf of the English version. It’s a 25 mb file. So think before have a look on it.

Working with typography :: the full set

bangla typography

The post working with typography got the highest visit among all the posts of this blog. It’s really wonderful. I am really grateful to them who commented there. They inspired me to create the full set of the typography. It’s really a work of patience. I could find many problems in the set after completing it. The more I am working with it, more I am learning. Hopefully I am going to make it as a ‘font’ so that I can use it when I type a sentence. It’ll need some more detailing and I also have to learn a font creating software. I’ll keep a copy here so that people can download it and check it. so keep in touch.

work scope

sometime actually most of the time when I work, I feel myself so lucky that I have the opportunity to work (one thing should be clear: here work means which will bring you some money, food or fame or some other materialistic benefits). Leisure is good but it’s a really awful when you don’t have anything to do for a long time. So let us discuss how to make opportunities to work and definitely I’ll talk here from the perspective of a graphic designer.

1. Most importantly you need a job… no matter how much they are paying you. You need a platform to learn and show your talent.
2. It’s my belief that in this universe very few people are extra ordinary talented… real creative and definitely I am not among them. So when I work I never try to do any extra ordinary thing… don’t think that this work is going to be a milestone… I just try to understand what the client wants to say, I try to imagine a visual which ten other ordinary people also able to do. It always helps to reduce the pressure of the work.
3. Don’t be silent… share your ideas with your friends, colleagues… even sometime with the rickshaw pullers. It’ll help you to expand your work scope.
4. Patience is too important for a designer… there is no alternative. So keep practicing typography lot… it’ll help you to increase your skill and patience both.
5. Don’t give up any scope of work unless you are in a huge pressure. Sometime work just as volunteer… it helps building reputation.

Ha ha ha… so clever and wise writing! Did I ever follow any of these? I know you have your own way of working. Just keep the faith on you… you’ll be the part of the next history…

Big bang!!!

Sigh… I know its 9 april but don’t know which day it is. Last 8 days I just had one thinking in my mind… even when I dreamed in my sleep, I just saw this thing. It’s over now and suddenly I have nothing to do… silence after the big bang! Nothing was perfect but somehow it’s okay. There were hundreds of mistakes in the catalog, the website still incomplete, there was no dhaki (folk drummer) and so the rally was almost silent. The food was readymade, not that much tasty. Lot of problems in the management but I don’t know why many of my friends thanked for the effort. Most of the senior said it was superb. Teachers said they even didn’t imagine that much could be happened in such short time… it’s like a milestone. I am happy because I myself even didn’t expect that much. There was hundreds of crisis, obstacles… but now nothing seems impossible. Well, I wanted to publish a post and let my readers know about the exhibition. But I am sorry, I didn’t get the time.

I’ve learnt few things:
1. work let you forget everything, even it’ll let you forget yourself.
2. you should have a ‘rhino skin’ if you are a part of the management of an event.
3. duniya shokter vokto, noromer jom
4. sobai to amra amrai. Doshe-gune achi, thaki na kichudin…

unhappy :(

I am working with a corporate brochure for last several days… and I am feeling very bad that the work isn’t going well. I am thinking something and I could visualize it inside me but I can’t express it with my paper and pencil… It’s a very painful situation. I am thinking and thinking… thinking even in my sleep. I hope it’ll come to a conclusion but I don’t know when. May be soon I can show you something…

rough layout
[ these two drawings are some sort of my thinking but very far from the real one… do you have any suggestion? ]

Photoshop CS3

Photoshop became a part of my life because I spend almost 8 hours with this software everyday. I am used to with just Photoshop 7 version though adobe has introduced some other newer version within last 2/3 years. Once I’ve tried the Photoshop CS years back but it didn’t suit me. Few days ago I’ve installed the Photoshop CS3 and worked few project there. I liked it. It’s much better than the CS though I still prefer the 7 because I learnt Photoshop with this version and I know it better. From the very first day I liked mostly three new features of CS3:

1: its revised hand tool which allowed you to scroll the canvas all around the screen and let you work at the last pixel of canvas.
2: option to create folder inside a folder and multiple layers selection option just with a ctrl+click.
3: cool interface.

I think it must have some other new options and there are some problems too. You must have to have a very good configured pc. It took almost 2.5 gb hard disk space and when it works you can’t work with other software properly. If you increase the history states and you work with a large file, it starts showing ‘scratch disk full’ message. Otherwise it’s a cool software and I hope I am going to like it.

working with typography

typography is known as a boring subject to many of my friends. i also kept this view 1/2 years back. now its one of my favorite. if you want to grow as a balance graphic designer then it’s one of the biggest field to show your talent. when you are good at typography that means you are good in creating logo, monogram, icon and definitely it presents that you have a very good sense of design compositions. a designer always has to work with many limitations. typography is a good practice to work with limitations.
